For this location, I was tasked with creating a Ninja Den themed around a secret coastal hot spring. I worked closely with designers Jos Hendriks and Eric Jensen to build an area that met all of our design and art goals. This was a fun layout challenge because we wanted the den to remain hidden, yet most of the coastline was visible from the cliffs above. To solve this, I carved a pocket into the coastal mountain and built a cave system leading into the area.
I handled most of the layout, world work (terrain sculpting and rock placement), and set dressing, with help from Casey Coauette, who updated parts of the hot springs. I also received a ton of support from Rhiannon Remo on big-picture world work, including background mountains and overall world integration. I’m super happy with how this location turned out, and it’s one of my favorite areas in the game.
